The PDF invoice as it arrives
In this video, a messy two-page supplier invoice becomes Shopify products, with colors, stock and barcodes. Here's the invoice as it arrives. Each item has a barcode under its code, a description on a second line, and the list runs on to page two. Then come the subtotal, a discount, shipping and tax, and the bank details.
Upload the PDF; Csvio finds the product lines
Invoices go in just like a CSV. Drop it in, and Csvio finds the product lines on both pages. It found nine rows, one for each item. The totals, shipping and tax lines are left out. These products are new, so it's Create.
Map the invoice's columns to Shopify fields
The mapping leaves two columns out. You'll see which in a moment. Item number is the SKU, and the barcode under each code came through as its own column. The bold first line became the product name, for the title, and the second line the description. Color becomes the variant option, and quantity, the units you received, becomes stock.
Unit price as cost per item, not selling price
Unit price is flagged, because the line total looks like a price too. On an invoice, it's what you paid for each item, so make it cost per item. You'll set your own selling price in Shopify. The unit of measure and the line total stay out. You don't need them in Shopify.
Six products from nine invoice lines
The preview shows six products from nine lines, with no subtotal, shipping or tax rows. The napkins' two colors became one product, each with its stock, and no price yet.
Import, report and the products in Shopify
Nothing reaches your store until you confirm. The report shows exactly what was created: six products, saved as drafts. Here are the napkins in Shopify, with both colors and their stock. Add your selling price and a photo, then publish. Try Csvio free, on your own supplier's invoice. The link's in the description.
