How to Read a Shopify CSV Import Report and Fix Failed Rows
To fix failed rows in a Shopify CSV import, read the report in Csvio, download the failure CSV, fix those rows and upload the file again. Products already in your store are skipped by the store check, so nothing comes in twice.

Read a Shopify import report
In this video, you'll read an import report: what was created, what was skipped or failed and why, and how to bring in the rows that didn't make it.
A supplier file with two messy rows
Here's a new supplier's file, with two messy rows. The knife has no product name, and the teapot's name holds its whole description, almost three hundred characters.
Upload, and the missing-title warning
Drop the file in, and choose Create. Before you import, Csvio warns that one product has no title. A new product without one is skipped. The other columns are mapped: the code to the SKU, the name to the title, and the prices.
The report: imported, failed and skipped
Import to Shopify, and confirm. The report says what happened to every product. Four were imported. One couldn't be imported, and the next step is spelled out: fix it in your file and upload it again. Products already in your store are skipped. Shopify turned the teapot down, and the reason says why: its title is over the limit of two hundred and fifty five characters. The knife was skipped, because new products need a title. A data problem would fail the same way again, so there's no retry here. A Retry button shows only when Shopify was busy.
Download the failed rows CSV
Download the failure CSV, and open it. Each failed product has its row in your file, its SKU, its title, and the error.
Fix the rows in your file
Then fix the file itself. The knife gets a name, and the teapot a short one. Everything else stays as it was.
Import the fixed file without duplicates
Drop the fixed file in. Now Csvio knows this supplier. Choose Create again, and the saved mapping is applied. Import to Shopify. This time the knife and the teapot are imported. The other four were skipped by the store check: their SKUs are already in your store, so nothing comes in twice.
Import history
Every import is kept in History. The Complete tab lists the imports that finished. Here's the fixed file: complete, two added and four skipped. Open it for the same report: six products, two succeeded, none failed, four skipped, and each skip grouped under its reason. Try Csvio free, on your own supplier's file. The link's in the description.
