How to Bulk Upload Product Photos to Shopify from a Zip and CSV

To bulk upload product photos to Shopify, list each photo's file name in your CSV, then drop the CSV and a zip of the photos into Csvio. Csvio matches each file name to a photo in the zip, names any photo that is missing, and lets you add it on its own.

Photo file names in the CSV, photos in a zip

In this video, a supplier's file and a zip of photos become Shopify products, each with its own photo. Here's the supplier's file. Its photo column names each photo by file name, not a web link, all in lower case. The photos come in a zip, named after each SKU in capitals. And the teapot's photo is missing.

Upload the CSV and choose Create

Drop the file in, and pick Create, because these products are new.

Map the photo column to the product image

On the mapping screen, SKU and name are mapped, and photo goes to the product image.

Match photos from the zip, and add a missing one

Because the photo column holds file names, Csvio asks for the image files here. Drop in the zip. Each name in the file is matched to a photo in the zip, ignoring capitals and the zip's folder. Five of six matched. The teapot's photo wasn't in the zip, so its name is listed here. Drop that one photo in on its own, and now all six match, uploaded and saved.

Photos in the product preview

In the preview, each product shows the photo it was matched to.

Import, report and the photos in Shopify

Nothing reaches your store until you confirm. The report shows six products, saved as drafts. In Shopify, all six have their photos, including the teapot, whose photo was added on its own. Try Csvio free, on your own supplier's file. The link's in the description.
