Settings: product defaults and the Online Store box
In this video, we set import defaults once in Settings, and every new import starts from them. Under Settings, the Defaults tab holds what each new import starts with. Status active, instead of draft. A vendor, Kestrel Home, used only where a file has no brand. Publishing new products on your Online Store is off by default, so they stay off your storefront until you publish them in Shopify. Tick it, and new products go on your Online Store. And a tag, new arrival, added to each product's own tags.
Variant defaults, saving and notifications
Variant defaults fill only fields the file leaves blank. Here, Shopify tracks the inventory, and a weight with no unit is read as kilograms. Save, and they're pre-filled on every new import. Under Notifications, choose whether Csvio emails you when a long import finishes.
A new supplier's file
Here's a new supplier's file. The weights are bare numbers with no unit, and the cherry board has no brand.
Upload and mapping
Drop it in, and pick Create. Brand becomes the vendor, and weight the variant weight.
The import defaults card, pre-filled
The import defaults card already holds what you saved in Settings, publishing on the Online Store among them. Open it, and there they are: status active, and the vendor. The file's own brands are kept, and Kestrel Home goes on the one product without. The Online Store box is ticked too. A change here is for this import only. This one also gets a wrenfold tag. Below are the variant defaults: tracked inventory, and kilograms.
Confirm and done: products live
Before anything is written, the confirm lists what Csvio sets: active, and on your Online Store, so they're on sale as soon as they're created. Four products are live.
The products in Shopify
In Shopify, all four are active, with their stock tracked. Each is on one channel, the Online Store. Three keep the file's brand, and the board has Kestrel Home. On the board's page, it's published on the Online Store. Its vendor is Kestrel Home. Both tags are there. And its weight: one point seven kilograms. Without a unit, a bare number would have gone in as grams. Try Csvio free, on your own supplier's file. The link's in the description.
